Our 2024 Spring Hope Food Drive was a huge success! Skyline staff and tenants came together to collect a record 37,696.86 lbs. comprised of food and essential items (dropped off to food banks in different communities) and $14,697.95 in monetary donations to Food Banks Canada. Skyline will match this total with an additional $52,394.80 monetary donation to Food Banks Canada. It's Canadian Mental Health Association Mental Health Week! We were proud to partner with Bell Let's Talk to highlight Integrated Youth Services (IYS) hubs across Canada. These hubs offer one-stop-shop services to support the mental health and wellness of young people.

https://shorturl.at/duU68 “We are committed to leveraging our own resources to find innovative ways to give back to the community, and we hope this initiative can influence and inspire other businesses to do the same.” Several divisions within Skyline Group of Companies came together to outfit Skyline Community Hub, a shared community organization workspace in Fergus, Ontario, with a new rooftop solar array using recycled panels from an industrial property previously owned by Skyline. The initiative will result in clean energy and hydro cost savings for the Hub’s tenants. The Hub is currently home to several community organizations including The Grove youth hub, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, EarlyON Child and Family Centre, and Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington. On May 3, Skyline broke ground for #ResidencesatSilvercreek in beautiful #Collingwood #Ontario! We celebrated with Ontario's Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing, Hon. Paul Calandra, as well as Mayor of Collingwood Yvonne Hamlin and MPP for Simcoe-Gray Brian Saunderson. In the words of Minister Calandra, Skyline and project partners are “breaking ground on rental homes that will create new housing options for people in Collingwood and contribute to the town’s vibrancy and appeal. . .This is an example of how government actions. . . are helping to spur construction of much-needed new purpose-built rental housing across Ontario.” Residences at Silvercreek is bringing 187 new suites to Collingwood, to be managed by Skyline Living. The crisis of housing insecurity strongly interplays with related crises such as food insecurity, addiction, and mental health challenges. In fact, perhaps no industry understands this better than the rental housing industry: we have seen it first-hand. That is why we must own our responsibility to leverage our resources and be part of the solution by working with communities and government toward a common goal of delivering much-needed supply. R. Jason Ashdown, our Co-Founder & CSO, penned an article for the latest edition of Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) FE Magazine about the critical role that rental housing providers can play in solving this crisis. The article profiles 10 Shelldale Crescent, a 32-unit Permanent Supportive Housing development in Guelph, which will be operated by Kindle Communities. 10 Shelldale is getting ready to welcome its first residents!
